Kung Fu Panda

Before Palmer was born, my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-L-Y talented sister-in-law Courtney made him this adorable outfit, which Mike dubbed Kung Fu Panda. It has an adorable kimono top with matching pants. I've been waiting and waiting for it to fit him, so that he could be a little model.
Pretty darn cute model, huh?

Courtney's attention to detail is impeccable & she really is quite the seamstress.

Palmer was pretty happy to show off his special outfit from his Aunt Courtney.

Wait, he has something else he wants to tell you...

... she has an Etsy shop that you need to check out! This is just a sampling of what she can do- you can check out her blog for even more eye candy. I know she would be happy to customize something for your little one!

I told Palmer that he would be meeting his Aunt C, Uncle Todd, & Cousin Avery on Friday & this was his reaction:)

One Year Ago Today...

...we had A LOT to celebrate at the Davis House. For starters, Mike graduated from Anesthesia School- Praise the Lord!!! It was a crazy three years leading up to that moment. I still am filled with pride for Mike & how much he sacrificed for our family. It was hard, very hard and now that we're on this side of school, it's easier to say it was worth it. Honestly, at the time, I would have said differently. Way to go Mike- I'm still in awe at all that you have accomplished!
It was even more special to share this day with our families, who supported with encouragement, plenty of prayers, some good laughs, & love!

It just wouldn't have been a celebration without a crazy pic:)

Another reason to celebrate... we saw the most beautiful thing for the first time ever- the heartbeat of our child. It is something I will never forget- the flutter, the confirmation of life, a life we had prayed for- God is good & he gave us just what we needed that night- assurance that as was well with our little man. Today, as I look at him & reflect on a year ago, I am overwhelmed with what God has entrusted us with- this sweet, thriving child.

I thought this was an appropriate picture- his bib reads:
"My daddy puts people to sleep."

Milestones & Mr. Monkey: 4 Months

I know I could say this every month, but I can't believe another month has gone by- I wish I could freeze time right now. Palmer is such a joy and his little personality is coming out more & more. We love him to pieces and soak in every moment we can.

Milestones:

  • Weighing in at 15 lbs 8 ozs & 25 3/4 inches long- everyone comments on how big he is, but his growth curve is perfect.
  • Got a great report on his head... we think we're going to avoid the helmet; all of that PT at home is working!
  • Unless he's flat on this back playing, this boy wants to be sitting up & taking in the world. He quickly lets us know if he doesn't want to be layed down.
  • He's also becoming a little cuddle bug which I LOVE. I've always wanted him to be able to soothe himself, which he's great at, but I love our special time at night to cuddle & rock.
  • He would live in the water if we let him- we let him get to the very pruned stage & then have to cut-off bathtime.
  • Palmer has really become attached to 'lovies' and they will soothe him in his carseat & swing. If he's got a bib on, it goes straight to the mouth as a stand-in lovie.
  • His hair keeps getting lighter and lighter, except for the thick, dark mullet in the back- argh! We wish it would fall out.
  • He is rolling over more & more, especially from back to stomach. We clap and say 'Yea Palmer!' You can tell he isn't quite sure what to think, but then busts out in a grin when we get excited.
  • Loves to look in mirrors and smile at himself
  • Mr. Fingers are still great, but we now have Mr. Feet!
  • He loves to take his paci out and chew on it.
  • Still VERY ticklish.
  • Jake & Lucy have really bonded with Palmer & I love it. We have a little routine for when Palmer gets up from his naps. When I hear him 'talking', I'll ask Jake & Lucy 'Where is Palmer' & they go to his room and I sing a little rhyme: Where is Palmer, Where is Palmer, Where is He, Where is He, I can see Him, I can see Him, Yes I can, Yes I can! Palmer grins from ear to ear and Jake & Lucy do everything they can to get to Palmer- they want kisses! It's very sweet.
  • We've let him sit-up in the stroller a couple of times and he really enjoys it until he gets tired.
  • We've tried unswaddled nap times... didn't go too well. We're still trying to wean him out of it... advice???
  • Wakes up happy, happy, happy!
  • He is really becoming a little explorer & really likes to study things, reach for toys, & of course, everything goes straight to the mouth!
  • We've been on the move this past month and Palmer took it in stride, excpet for a major (and I mean MAJOR) meltdown on the way back from the beach- I guess he was just sad to leave:)
Extras:

Palmer thought Mr. Monkey needed a little kiss.

I can never resist that little dimple!

Road Trippin'- Part Three: Beach Bound

I will pre-warn you, this post contains a lot of pictures- I just couldn't narrow them down any more! We traveled to St. Augstine a few weeks ago to take Palmer on his first beach trip and celebrate Mike's birthday. We had such a great time. Palmer absolutley LOVED the beach & pool. Overall, it was such a fun experience and we can't wait to do it again. Thanks Aunt Karen & Unlce Drew for letting us stay at the condo- it was just perfect! We hated to leave, but it was just the right amount of time to squeeze in some beach time, pool time, good eating, shopping, & of course... pictures;)
Without further ado... the birthday boy with his requested dump cake- it was so yummy.

Palmer was all smiles as we headed down to the beach. He was the cutest little chubby baby!

First time to feel the ocean waves- just love the look on their faces! The water was freezing (to us), but Palmer didn't flinch one bit and just grinned when the water hit his feet.

Palmer's beach accomodations were pretty snazzy:
Personal fan while chilling in the stroller

Lounging in the swing while watching the waves.

After a pretty full day on the beach, we had one tired little beach babe!

We ventured out to the pool at night- Palmer was too busy checking out the water and other kiddos to have his picture taken.

Showing off his Baby Speedo:)

"Don't worry about me, life is good."

Of course I had to squeeze in a little mini photo shoot with Palmer & he was much more cooperative this time around.
Smiling at Daddy.

Sticking his toungue out at Daddy.

Talking to Daddy.

Our last night at the beach, we ventured out before dinner for some family pictures on the dunes. I just love how these turned out!

We've gotten better & better with our tripod shots- we need a video camera to catch Mommy running around and acting the monkey to get Palmer's attention:)

One of my favorites!

There's nothing like a good ole' sink bath and Palmer thought he was big stuff.

There's also nothing like a good ole' foot sandwiche compliments of Daddy during a diaper change to wrap up our time at the beach.

Good Morning Surprise

I had a nice surprise when I got up this morning- I found this little note. I thought about blacking out the age... but I need to face it. I have officially left the twenties & here come the thirties, bring it on! Mike has been up to a little mischief & I'm so excited about all of the plans he has made, all the way down to the Ole Miss game:)
Also, as of yesterday, Mr. Palmer is a Moppett! We went to our first MOPS meeting & we both had a really good time. He got to meet new kiddos & I got to meet new mommy's:)

Daddy's Version of Playtime

While I was going through older pictures, I came across these. I had nothing to do with them- none of these faces were my idea (however, I did take pictures to capture the memories:)
It started off as sweet playtime in Daddy's lap...

... and even some lovin' for those precious feet. But then...

...Palmer was worn out from playtime and it started to go downhill.

First came the pig nose...

...then Little Hobbitt...

... and we ended with Mr. Walrus!

If it had been up to Daddy & Aunt Emily, there would be more pictures, but Mommy had to put her foot down:)
